Oil Boiler Installation
Oil boilers are less commonly found in the UK compared to their natural gas counterparts, however they are an excellent option for those properties that are not connected to the natural gas network. Most oil boiler appliances are fed by a supply of stored oil which is kept in a tank located outside of your property. The benefit of this is that the homeowner is free to shop around for a good deal on fuel and is not tied to one supplier.
How much does a new oil boiler cost?
At AB Renewable Solutions Services we are proud to offer a new oil boiler installation service which is second to none. Each oil boiler installation is different, so in order to give you an accurate price for the work involved we will need to talk to you in the first instance to find out more and organise for an engineer to visit on a free no obligation basis to carry out a site survey.
Different types of Condensing Oil Boilers
As with Gas boilers there are different types of Oil Boilers to suit the different needs of each home:
Combi boilers
The combi boiler is the most recent type of oil boiler. They’re compact, cost-effective and heat your home and hot water on demand. That means there’s no need for any tanks or cylinders.
The mains water supply is fed straight into the boiler and is heated as and when you need it. So there’s no waiting around for the cylinder to fill up with warm water again. The water is then pumped from the boiler to the radiator or taps. Combi Boilers are perfect for smaller homes with only 1 bathroom and can help keep costs down by only providing hot ater when needed rather than keeping a large tank of water hot.
System boilers
System boilers take their water supply directly from the mains as well but they store hot water in a cylinder. This is great for homes with multiple bathrooms with a high demand for hot water. For example, If you have a main bathroom and an en-suite likely to be used at the same time a system boiler would be perfect for your home.
Regular boilers
They’re the oldest type of boiler and most often found in homes built 50+ years ago. They aren't as efficient as modern combi and system boilers and should only be considered as direct replacements for existing regular boilers. This is because you’ll need a hot water cylinder and tanks in the loft as well as the boiler iself. So a large pipe network is needed to connect them all up. This makes installing new regular boiler systems are very expensive and a lot less efficient than their modern counterparts.
Which type of oil boiler is right for your home?
Large homes with 2 or more bathrooms will need a system or regular boiler. They're far better at meeting high demand for hot water than a combi as they store hot water in a cylinder. If you have a regular boiler then you may want to move to a system boiler as you won’t need the tanks in the loft.
If you live in a smaller property with 1 bathroom then a combi boiler is perfect. They heat water on demand so you’ll have hot water available at all times and won’t need a cylinder making the prcoess of delivering hot water more cost effective.
Replacing an oil storage tank
A tank to store the oil is an essential part of an oil boiler installation. Over time, the condition of the tank can deteriorate and begin to rust away. As the owner of an oil storage tank, it's your responsibility to ensure that oil isn't able to leak out and make its way into the environment. Should oil leak out at any point, you will have to pay for it to be cleaned up as well as covering the cost of any damages.
